Short, but sweet, and completely last minute. That was my trip to Florida for five days during spring break. I was in dire need of an intermission during my semester and was dreaming of water in any form, so I sprung when my mom offered to fly me to Florida. The desert is a beautiful place, but it's not for me. I need at least two of the following in my immediate environment: water, trees, and mountains. Perhaps that's why Justin and I left Phoenix nearly every weekend last semester to keep our green souls happy enough to get by. The colors of Florida had me in a trance every day. It's funny because Washington has always been my home base, so when I have traveled to Florida previously the greenery isn't very impressive. But coming from the dry desert, it nearly knocked me sideways. It was nice to run through trails that had trees hovering above my head. Florida is hot like Arizona, but there is relief in the shade from the lush vegetation. But I can't decide if I'd rather live in a swamp or a desert? The more I wander, the more I realize my heart is made for the mountains. Luckily, Justin and I rented a cabin with friends in New Mexico for the remainder of spring break. I'll be sharing the rest of the adventure here soon!
